A Guide to the Best Designer Handbags
Are you looking for the best designer bags of 2024? Totes, mini bags, shoulder bags, clutches - there are so many popular bag styles to consider. Chanel, Loewe, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Birkin, Saint Laurent, Dior - and so many brands to choose from. So how do you choose?
Today I'm rounding up my top 15 best designer bags to invest in. I chose these specific bags based on size, price, brand position, and and overall style. You'll notice that all of these bags have a timeless, classic style, and that's because I believe the best way to get the most out of your luxury bag is to choose one with classic style. That way, as trends come and go, your bag will never feel dated.
I also stuck to dark and neutral colors, which are always in style, but if you’re looking for something with more color, many of them are available in trendy, vibrant hues.
One of my all time top designer bags is the Gucci Horsebit 1955. As the name suggests, it's actually recreated from an archival design that was first introduced over six decades ago. I love the subtle logo print, horsebit hardware, and clean lines. Needless to say, this bag stands up to the timeless style test. Although this list is in no particular order, I did put it in the number one spot because it's quite possibly my favorite bag of all time and top of mind for me.
There's nothing like the polished silhouette of a structured tote bag. This YSL tote has both a crossbody strap and a top handle, making it incredibly versatile. It's sized and structured to perfectly fit paperwork, small laptops, and tablets, and has a chic, sleek style, so it's no surprise that it's because a favorite designer handbag for the girl on the go.
A roundup of the best luxury bangs is not complete without mentioning Chanel; the iconic quilted leather is synonymous with class and timelessness. In fact, some people look at purchasing a Chanel bag as an investment because of their high resale value. Most of their bags are made in Italy or France, and no matter the current trends, a good leather handbag is always in style.
Available in brown, grey, and black, popular designer saddle bag features golden hardware, a front flap, and plenty of room for your personal items.
If you're looking to invest, an Hermes bag is one of the most coveted handbags on the market. Not only do some of their bags sell for $20,000+, their flap bags are iconic, simple, and elegant.
If you're not into logos, you'll probably love the signature T-shaped hardware on Tom Ford's Mini Tara Grained Leather Crossbody Bag. It's subtle and understated in the best way possible and the shiny finish complements the grained leather.
If you're looking for something with some color, this Botegga Veneta handbag is available in four different colors. It features the iconic intrecciato weave and a knotted shoulder strap, which ads texture and interest.
Nothing is more classic than the iconic LV print, and this tote is a bag that will stand the test of time. This Louis Vuitton bag is known for its sharp, clean lines, roomy internerior, and minimal hardware ensures that it doesn't feel too trendy. The link I'm sharing here is second hand because LV is one of the brands you can easily find gently used (or in this case, not used at all). If you're looking for something a little smaller, the Louis Vuitton Speedy is another great option.
I am obsessed with this bag. I love the extra large size, caramel leather color, and minimalist shape. It's unique without being trendy, is the perfect balance of fashion and luxury, and the whipstitched handles look very designer to me. This is one of those bags that I feel like will never go out of style.
Bucket bags are a great way to carry everything you need while still looking chic. This one from Mansur Gavriel comes in brown and black and is small enough to keep the bag lightweight. The bow accent adds some feminine detail while the drawstring closure pays homage to their classic leather bucket bag.
When it comes to designer purses, there's nothing quite like a Prada Bag. This bag might feel familiar to you and that because the famous luxury house modernized their shoulder bag with a sharp silhouette and square corners. It can be worn as a crossbody or shoulder bag, features their signature enamel triangle logo. Note that if you're looking for something a little more colorful, it also comes in pink and green.
If you want a new designer bag but also want something smaller, YSL's mini camera bag is the perfect size to carry all your essentials. To me, there's nothing more timeless than quilted leather; combine that with the gold chain, and you've got a bag that you can dress up or dress down.
This roomy designer bag comes in multiple colors and features rolled top handles, pebbled leather, structured sides, and is finished off with their iconic postman's lock. Thanks to its minimalist nature and roomy design, it would make the perfect quiet luxury work bag.
If you're looking for a shoulder bag, the Dior Mini Bag is the epitome of Italian luxury. It features their unique saddle-shaped body, signature CD designer logo, foldover top, and and the Dior logo charm. As with many of the other luxury handbags on this list, you can absolutely save some money by scoring one that is gently used.
