A MODERN TRADITIONAL CHANDELIER LIVING ROOM MAKEOVER

PARTNERED POST
Wayfair contributed to some of the cost of this chandelier, but as always, the opinions expressed are completely my own. Disclosure: This post uses affiliate links. Okay, maybe “makeover” isn’t the right word here, but honestly, it feels like it is. All we did was swap out our living room chandelier, but the entire room feels different now.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may know that I’m currently (and slowly) redecorating our home from trendy boho to modern traditional (here’s a little video to show you what I’m talking about).

Our previous light was a draped, beaded chandelier that we got from Wayfair; at under $200, it’s a total steal and I actually still love it. With all the modern traditional decor changes we’ve recently made, it was just feeling a little too feminine for the space.

I’ve had my eye on Wayfair’s Oatman 4 - Light Shaded Classic / Traditional Chandelier for months (Canadian link here), so I knew it was time to take the plunge.

I had a shortlist of transitional chandeliers I was considering (see below), but I ended up choosing the Oatman because the overall aesthetic was exactly what I was going for.

OTHER TRANSITIONAL CHANDELIERS I CONSIDERED

Why I love this chandelier:

  • The shades ensure a beautiful, soft light

  • The transitional (also known as modern traditional) style

  • The textured linen-like material on the lampshades

  • The aged bronze finish softens up some of the harsher lines in the living room

  • The quality - it’s actually made by Troy lighting!

  • It really makes a statement

The hardest part of mounting this light was getting the shades to sit perfectly straight on the bulbs and on the fixture. It took a bit of tweaking (and a lot of patience from my husband as I told him “a little more to the left”), but it was totally worth it.

I am thrilled with the final look of our living room; I really feel like the chandelier brings the entire space together; the room feels so much more cohesive, and all because of a single light! Sometimes small changes can make a big difference.

P.S. You may be wondering about my oversized mat photo frames - would you believe they are an IKEA hack?! I have all the details here.
