Small Porch Problems

We live in a townhouse, so I'm very familiar with small space problems: not enough storage room, narrow hallways, low ceilings, and cramped spaces are just a few of my home decor struggles we have, and our front porch is no exception.  

We have no room for a seating area and we certainly don't have a front yard, but that doesn't mean that we can't have curb appeal.  In fact, it means that decorating our outdoor space is even more important, because we don't have a lot to work with. 

I haven't shown our outdoor entryway love since we moved in (seven years ago!), so I decided it was time for a bit of an outdoor refresh.

One of the easiest ways to style your outdoor living space is by choosing a chic doormat or outdoor rug. Personally, I prefer doormats and like to stick to texture and prints (not words), so I chose a modern organic braided doormat to make the space more inviting.

Since we are so short on storage space, we don't have room to store seasonal ornamental wreaths. The solution? Choose a door wreath that welcomes you home year-round and doesn't feel too seasonal.  Wreaths give your front door warmth, character, and style, and if you live in a townhouse like us, helps people to find your unit. 

If I want the wreath to be more seasonal, I can add bells around the winter holidays, orange and black ribbon around Halloween, and some faux flowers in the spring.

I hope this mini patio makeover has shown you that there are many ways to make your front porch look good (even if you have limited space).

Outdoor living is a huge part of our life, and although we dream of having a pergola, a water feature, a bench, a porch swing, or even just a little side table, it's just not an option for us right now. These few small changes make a big impact in our little patio design, and I look forward to them welcoming me home every day.
