Faux olive trees can be very expensive (we're talking hundreds for just the tree), but when I was looking to get one for our own home, I knew there had to be a budget option out there for me. As always, I wanted something that went with my current home decor and was the perfect mix of elegance and affordability.  To make things even more complicated, I wanted an artificial olive tree that was made for indoor or outdoor use (because I like options) and I also wanted a faux concrete or terracotta planter I could use with it to really elevate the overall look.

After much searching, not only did I find an affordable olive tree, but I found an elegant faux terracotta planter that added to its charm (pro tip, it also comes in a faux concrete option). This tall olive tree was just what I was looking for to elevate my holiday decor while staying on budget (see below). Its realistic appearance and no assembly made it the perfect addition to my home for the festive season. Indoor/Outdoor Artificial Olive Tree

An indoor/outdoor olive tree that's also affordable? Yup, it exists and you can find it at Lowes. I got the LTMATE Green Indoor/Outdoor Artificial Olive Artificial Tree in the 52 inch size, but it also comes in a 63 inch tall version that is more of a tree shape and wider.

I specifically chose this faux tree because even though we have tall ceilings, I didn't want a full size tree with branches; I wanted the look of a juvenile tree and I loved the realistic trunk and minimalist appearance. If you want the look of a full grown tree, the next size up would be perfect for that too.

The Best Faux Terracotta Planter from Lowes

My next task was to find a faux terracotta planter that really elevated the overall look of the tree. I wanted something elegant, classy, and affordable, and I absolutely found it! I got the Lowes Origin Light Aged Ivory Mixed/Composite Contemporary/Modern Indoor/Outdoor Planter and it's even better than I had imagined. The best part? It comes in two colors.

I purchased the light aged ivory (which looks like terracotta), but it also comes in a white (that looks like concrete) that was a very close second for me. If you want to see a video of both planters in real life, click HERE.

I actually loved the white version so much that I bought it for some faux plants I'll "plant" in the spring for our teeny-tiny backyard.

Artificial Olive Tree for a Living Room

I put 'em together, raised the tree inside the pot by putting some scrap wood and paper under it, added some Spanish moss, and suddenly I have the most beautiful artificial tree in my living room.

I love having the greenery in my home without all the work, and the price point was bang on for me (it's not unheard of to spend literally hundreds on fake plants and trees).

The best part about this tall faux tree is that it can also be used outdoors. We have a spot outside our home that has been begging for some love for...oh, about 7 years now, so when spring hits, I might try my new potted faux olive tree there. I've tried real plants there before, but it gets such harsh direct sunlight that nothing survives, so I'm thrilled that I can pretty much guarantee that this one will be okay.

I might get some heat for this, but I'm not a huge Christmas or holiday decorating girlie. It's not that I'm a grinch; it's that we are very short on storage in our townhouse and we truly don't have the room to store holiday decor year-round.  Instead, we get creative.
